37 - Ranier's Ghost
Week 37 - Monday 9/11 to Sunday 9/17
As I walked around the deck prior to sailaway, I saw the hovering mass of Mt. Ranier hanging over the horizon. As many times as we've been to Seattle, we seldom see the tallest mountain in the Cascade Range due to the local weather's propensity towards overcast. At 14,000 ft., it is an imposing presence even at 60 miles away. Shooting into the sun with a lot of atmospheric haze is seldom a recipe for a successful image but in this case, the illusion of the massive mountain floating over the bay worked for me. The trip was a repeat of the prior year’s vacation and I was happy to find new things to shoot along with some much needed relaxation.
